How I Got Here

My academic journey has roots in Barcelona and Madrid, where I became a forensic psychologist and criminologist specialized in criminal investigation. Over time, my work expanded through international experiences in Finland and the Netherlands, enriching my perspective and deepening my commitment to justice. I have worked as an expert witness in criminal and civil cases as well as Amicus Curiae. These cases included sexual assault, child sexual abuse, homicide, serial killers, and child custody evaluations.

For several years, I have been actively engaged in delivering training sessions, giving lectures, and conducting research in the field of investigative interviewing. My work focuses particularly on the dynamics of false confessions, exploring how and why they occur, and how to prevent them. I also specialize in bridging the gap between evidence-based practices and real-world interviewing techniques, ensuring that approaches used with witnesses and suspects are both effective and ethically sound.

Wrongful conviction

Since 2016, I’ve worked in the field of wrongful convictions—first as a promoter and cofounder of the Barcelona Innocence Project, Spain’s first initiative of its kind. I’ve since contributed as a researcher and collaborator with projects focused on freeing innocent individuals. My work centers on the contributing factors that lead to a wrongful convictions and the ethical issues involved.
